We got to spend Christmas in Puerto Rico with the whole family. A real treat! Here are just a few photos of our adventure.

Wyoming Summer Trip

Saturday, September 28th, 2013

This summer we finally did something we had wanted to do for a long time – go to Wyoming with the kids! We spent several days at the cabin, then a few more days in Casper. Lucas and Stella had a good time and everyone there really enjoyed meeting them too.

Here are some photos of our adventure.

Spring Break!

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

We had another fun fun trip to Fort Lauderdale with our “Florida friends”! (pictures here)

I think Lucas finally understands that everyone lives in Boston even though we only see them in Florida 🙂 This year the DiMiccos (w/ Adam 3 and Emma 1) and the Sylvan-Rutman crew (w/ Allie 5 and Artie 3) were along for the ride.  I like Misha’s description of our annual trip: “It’s like a daycare all day and a frat party at night”

We also got to have a lunch outing at a beachfront restaurant with Aunt Jenny & Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat & Uncle Al, we were so happy that the timing worked out, great to see everyone and introduce Stella!

We had a fun fun weekend in Houston, for Pat and Lori’s wedding on May 18th.  We stayed at the Magnolia Hotel downtown, very nice.  Here are a few photos of the weekend.  More pics (with captions) are on the photos page.

Stella’s Baptism

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

With Christmas break finally here, a little extra time to get to update the blog.  Here are some photos of Stella’s baptism in Houston over Thanksgiving.

She was very sweet in her white dress and bonnet

Her godparents are Uncle Pat and Aunt Lori

Stella was very peaceful and interested in what was going on.  She liked the water and oil!

But she fell asleep before the end of it 🙂  This is hard work!

Sweet cousin Owen got all dressed up for the occasion too!

And he and Stella had some tummy time together to celebrate…

Thanksgiving in Houston

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

We had a super fun Thanksgiving weekend in Houston.  *Everyone* was there…Pat, Lori & Owen; Scott, Cherisse & Noah; and our Atlanta crew, all together again!  We all flew in on Thursday, including Dad just getting back from work in Iraq. So we shifted our turkey day to Friday.  My cousin Martin and his wife Jaqui drove in from Austin to join us as well.

Lots of fun getting all four cousins together.  Noah has a little brother (3) and a little sister (1), so he’s great with the kiddos. It’s so cliche to say…but I can’t believe how grown up he is all of the sudden!

And Stella and Owen are still best buds of course.

Stella spent some quality time in Owen’s play gym, wondering why hers at home is not nearly as cool… “mom can we get this one?!”

Of course all these Lockerds together was the perfect Christmas photo op.  Stella was a doll in her frilly dress.  No spoilers on the actual photo, but here’s one of our fam…

Later in the day, Thomaz got everyone organized for a trip to the go carts.  Lucas went along just to watch and loved it.  The competition was high among this motley crew.

Then on Saturday we all spent the day at Pat and Lori’s house, aka Club Med.  The rain let up enough for some hot tub lounging and some tex-mex on the patio.

Lucas thoroughly enjoyed watching grandpa Clark cut down a dead tree in the backyard with a chainsaw. Then Pat built a bonfire in their fire pit, and we still had time for a fierce game of catch phrase.

Sunday we had Stella baptized (that’ll get its own post soon). And in the evening we had dinner at the Cochran’s house.  It was great to catch up with them, and really fun to see Molly and Lucas have so much fun together.

Lucas had some good bonding time with grandpa Clark.  They did a lot of going out on the greenbelt with his tricycle, and stomping in the water with his boots.  This week since we’ve been home Lucas has twice asked me in the morning if we were going to the airport to go to Houston today.  And he asked to call grandpa Clark on the phone the other night at dinner 🙂

Fun fun weekend!

Fun in Houston

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

Thomaz had a conference in D.C. earlier this month, so I decided to take the kiddos to Houston to visit the fam. I was dreading the plane trip but it was not that bad! Other than a 1 hr delay on the way over, everything went smoothly. And Luc and Stella were great on the plane. Other than Lucas making a run for it up the jetway when we arrived in Houston….me following behind with Stella in baby carrier, dragging stroller and carry-on. But that was our only incident, so all and all much better than I anticipated!

Everyone was excited to see/meet Stella…

…and we were excited to meet cousin Owen too, what a cutie! Stella and Owen are big friends already.

Lucas had a blast, fun with cars of course, he gets to play with a huge box of cars circa 1980 along with this hotwheels garage that has stood the test of time.

Grandpa Clark introduced him to having fun in the garage, and they built a few things together like a ramp for the cars and a trunk for the tricycle.

Oh and pool time was a highlight as well!

I had fun getting together with two different groups of high school friends. On Friday night, we hung out with Christy, Amy and Jennifer, and Stella got to meet baby Richard and Grayson, and Lucas had fun running around with Will,Reece,Taylor and Kennedy. And on Saturday night the Cochran’s and Anderson’s came over for a bbq, we had 7 kids under the age of 8! Getting so many kids together is mass chaos! But so much fun to see everyone and see how all our little families are growing 🙂

Florida Vaca 2011

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Ok, finally getting closer to current affairs!  In March we went on a family vacation with some of our friends from Boston–the DiMiccos and the Orkins.  We spent four days in Fort Lauderdale, FL in an area called Lauderdale by the Sea.  We rented a house, and were within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and a little park.  It was our first attempt at group travel with kids (Lucas, Adam DiMicco ~18mo, and Vivian Orkin ~7mo), and we had such a great time!  I think we all expected it to be fun but not relaxing, and in the end we were able to relax and have some down time as well.  I put up several photos of the trip on our Photos Page.   But here are a few highlights.

Here are all the kiddos checking out the water for the first time

And here’s our best attempt at a family photo, at least Thomaz and I are doing a good job of saying “cheese”!

One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see Lucas’ Great Grandma Rosie, who was in town visiting her sister and brother for a week.  We spent a morning together and had fun catching up with family and introducing everyone to Lucas.

We thought Lucas and Adam would probably be too young to “play” together, but they actually had a lot of fun together, it was really cute.

Here are a couple of videos of the two of them that Mike and Joanie posted on YouTube.   Here they are having a “race” in the living room.

And here they are having a “conversation” on the way home from the beach. Lucas is reading one of his favorite things, the free auto trader magazine from the grocery store, and their topic doesn’t change much from Adam’s favorite word…”this”

Christmas 2010

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

We spent Christmas in Houston, with Mom, Dad, Scott, Noah, Pat and Lori.

We were in town for over a week and had a great time catching up with everyone.

Pat and Lori really brought their game for the cookie decorating

And Pat took home the glory with the winning christmas tree star, 3D cookie

Once Lucas figured out that there was water in the greenbelt, that’s pretty much all he wanted to do. Luckily Scott and Grandpa Clark were happy to oblige (pw=pitanga).

July 4th in Boston

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Hard to believe it was a month ago, but we spent a wonderful long weekend in Boston over July 4th.  We stayed at Casa DiMicco, where Lucas had lots of happy fun times with his buddy Adam.  (video pw=pitanga)

He was really pumped up about playing with all of Adam’s toys.  But a favorite was this wild and crazy baby exersaucer!   Which for a toddler also has the added bonus of containing him for several minutes at least…which is how it earned the name “fun jail”.   Lucas was begging to get in fun jail all weekend, it was great.

We had a nice BBQ for the 4th.  I caught this very stereotypical photo of all the guys standing over the grill…classic.

We had a great time catching up with all our old pals, and their kiddos!!

The next day we had fun hanging out at Lis and Misha’s.  Allie and Artie showed Lucas all their great backyard toys, and they all had fun running in the sprinkler (video pw=pitanga).

We spent our last night at a hotel in Cambridge, and had a chance to take Lucas around for a little Boston sightseeing.  We took a nice walk down Charles Street and hung out in the Boston Commons.

Was a really fun trip, hope we can do it again soon!!
