Strollin’

Our stroller arrived on Friday!  So, we’ve been getting out and about in the beautiful Atlanta weather this weekend.

We took a stroll to Piedmont on Saturday, and Lucas and I sat in the park while Thomaz ran with the dogs.  Little Luc seems pretty comfy in his ride.

And here we are at the end of the day, all that excitement makes for one tired baby.

Getting out and about

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

And back to your regularly scheduled Lucas programming.  Here are a couple of photos from week 2, we’re starting to get out and about a little bit (read: mommy is getting stir crazy in the house).

The weather has been really nice this week in Atlanta, so a few afternoons we’ve spent some time sitting on the front porch watching the world go by.  We have a little park right in front of our house, so we can see all the little kids playing and have fun imagining Lucas and his little friends there not too long from now.

And we’ve started putting the baby bjorn to good use, taking Lucas along for some dogs walks.  He looks so tiny in there, but he just coos the whole time so we think he likes it 🙂

Grass

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

In a departure from “all things Lucas,” a quick post about my (Andrea’s) recent landscaping experiment.

For anyone who has seen our backyard, it is a great space that is completely overrun with brush and has no real rhyme or reason to it.  We have big visions of fixing it up one day, I think that project is in line right after the basement and kitchen, so still several years away.

Much of the backyard is large swaths of dirt like this…

So, about a month ago, I decided to buy a $10 bag of grass seed, spread it around, and see what happens.  Thomaz was very skeptical, but decided to humor me and we proceeded with the seeding of this little space behind our house as an experiment in growing grass.

Low and behold!  Only a few days later we had signs of life

And here’s the current state of my grass today.  I’ll admit it’s a little patchy 🙂  But I have hope that it will fill in nicely, and if not I’m certain I could just throw down a few more seeds and we’d be good to go.

At Home With Lucas

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Here’s a few photos from Lucas’ first week at home. It’s hard to believe that a week ago today we were heading to the hospital.

Here he is starting out for home, first ride in his car seat. We weren’t very good at getting him in there, but after a couple of trips to the doctor this week we have gotten better.

Here is our first night at home, Monday night. Our friends Rich and Agata stopped by for a visit and got some nice photos.

We got ourselves all setup with a little Lucas corner in our bedroom. With the rocker and the pack-and-play all ready for his continual eating and sleeping routine.

Then Grandma Jan arrived from Houston on Tuesday evening, and she was very excited to meet little Luc.

Most of the time this is what Lucas looks like, he’s one sleepy sleepy guy.

But as the week goes on we get to see his big bright eyes more and more.

Say hi to Lucas

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

The little guy couldn’t wait any longer! Lucas Lockerd Thomaz was born about 12 hours ago here in Atlanta. 6.3 pounds and 19 inches. Technically, he is 4 weeks early, but he’s totally ready to go.
