Florida Vaca 2011

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Ok, finally getting closer to current affairs!  In March we went on a family vacation with some of our friends from Boston–the DiMiccos and the Orkins.  We spent four days in Fort Lauderdale, FL in an area called Lauderdale by the Sea.  We rented a house, and were within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and a little park.  It was our first attempt at group travel with kids (Lucas, Adam DiMicco ~18mo, and Vivian Orkin ~7mo), and we had such a great time!  I think we all expected it to be fun but not relaxing, and in the end we were able to relax and have some down time as well.  I put up several photos of the trip on our Photos Page.   But here are a few highlights.

Here are all the kiddos checking out the water for the first time

And here’s our best attempt at a family photo, at least Thomaz and I are doing a good job of saying “cheese”!

One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see Lucas’ Great Grandma Rosie, who was in town visiting her sister and brother for a week.  We spent a morning together and had fun catching up with family and introducing everyone to Lucas.

We thought Lucas and Adam would probably be too young to “play” together, but they actually had a lot of fun together, it was really cute.

Here are a couple of videos of the two of them that Mike and Joanie posted on YouTube.   Here they are having a “race” in the living room.

And here they are having a “conversation” on the way home from the beach. Lucas is reading one of his favorite things, the free auto trader magazine from the grocery store, and their topic doesn’t change much from Adam’s favorite word…”this”

Halloween 2010

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

Still in catch up mode…Some pics from Halloween! Same weekend that Mom, Dad, Scott and Cherisse were visiting. Lucas was a fireman and they have a fun little party at his daycare that we went to, and he got to stay up late enough to hand out some candy too.

Christmas 2010

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

We spent Christmas in Houston, with Mom, Dad, Scott, Noah, Pat and Lori.

We were in town for over a week and had a great time catching up with everyone.

Pat and Lori really brought their game for the cookie decorating

And Pat took home the glory with the winning christmas tree star, 3D cookie

Once Lucas figured out that there was water in the greenbelt, that’s pretty much all he wanted to do. Luckily Scott and Grandpa Clark were happy to oblige (pw=pitanga).

Lucas was Baptized on October 30, 2010 here in Atlanta at the Cathedral of Christ the King. His uncle Scott is his godfather. Grandma Jan, and Grandpa Clark came in from Houston, and Scott and Cherisse came from Denver for the weekend. And several of our Atlanta friends were able to join for the celebration as well. It was a very special day.

Afterwards we had a nice lunch back at our house, Dad was the master chef turning out quesadillas.

Lucas 18mo

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Here are a few photos and videos of Lucas at around 18 months (16-19 really).

Playing in the backyard.

His belly was the first body part he could point out, and he was proud of it!  We played a lot of “where’s your belly”

Eating was still quite the adventure, here he is after what is still probably his messiest meal EVER, spaghetti of course…

Toothbrushing and helping in the kitchen…

And around this age is when he got his first set of matchbox cars, and so the obsession began!   (video pw=pitanga)

Another cute moment was the couple of days when he was dead set on learning to jump.  (pw=pitanga)

Lucas 15mo

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

I’ve been having fun looking back through Lucas photos from the past few months. He’s changed so much! For posterity, here’s a little glimpse of Lucas last summer at 15months.

And here he is playing on our porch, in which you can also see how we used our dining room as a dorm-style kitchen during the remodel, which I had completely blocked from memory, what a pain.  (pw = pitanga)

And some first attempts at learning to use a fork 🙂
