Professor Radu Balescu was involved in the European fusion program for more than 30 years as a scientist and as the head of research unit of the ULB group in the Euratom-Belgian State Association. In 1988, Professor Balescu published a magnum opus Transport Processes in Plasmas: Volume 1: Classical Transport; Volume 2: Neoclassical Transport (NorthHolland, 803 pp).
